Joe Exotic: Dean Winters Joins Limited Series Peacock as Jeff Lowe

Dean Winters is pretty much Tiger King royalty now. The 30 Rock / Girls5eva actor joined Peacock’s Joe Exotic limited series as Joe’s partner turned nemesis Jeff Lowe, who was a main actor in Netflix’s Tiger King documentary series.

Joe Exotic stars SNL’s Kate McKinnon as big cat enthusiast Carole Baskin who learns that another exotic animal lover, Joe “Exotic” Schreibvogel (played by John Cameron Mitchell) breeds and uses his big cats for profit. She sets out to shut down her business, sparking a rapidly escalating rivalry. But Carole has her own checkered past and when the claws emerge, Joe will stop at nothing to expose what he sees as his hypocrisy.

The cast also includes Dennis Quaid as reality TV producer Rick Kirkham, Brian Van Holt as zoo director John Reinke, Nat Wolff as Joe Travis Maldonado’s first husband and Sam Keeley as Joe’s second husband John Finlay.

Winters’ long list of TV credits also includes OZ, Rescue Me, Law and Order: SVU, and Brooklyn Nine-Nine.

While Joe Exotic focuses on the same people who feature in Netflix’s unscripted smash Tiger King, the NBCU series is actually based on Wondery’s Joe Exotic podcast, which was released last March. Meanwhile, Amazon is also developing a limited Joe Exotic series, with Nicolas Cage on board to star.
