The Darkness announces new Motorheart album

The Darkness will return this fall with their latest album, Motorheart. The new effort is slated to arrive on October 15 via Cooking Vinyl, with a lead single slated for release in July.

Promising more searing riffs from glam rockers, Motorheart follows up on 2019’s Easter Is Canceled. A press release promises the album with transport listeners “from this valley of tears moaning and crying to Elyos rock fields,” which looks like the perfect post-pandemic party, if you ask us.

To support the release, The Darkness announced a UK tour in November and December. British Lion, the side project of Iron Maiden bassist Steve Harris, will join them on the road.

Darkness frontman Justin Hawkins said this about the upcoming album and tour:

“The time has come,” said the walrus, “to put your fool’s pants on your head and swing as if Satan is eating your private parts with a sharp fork!” Yes, we, The Darkness, are back on tour, praising the better half of Satan… come party with us like it’s the last orders in the Last Chance Saloon. Which may be the case, but I wouldn’t want to say more about it. Come in kids, this is the dark what you know and love, plus British Lion – Steve Harris’ best rock band that’s guaranteed to blow your socks off all the way to the welcoming ass. What a night! Delirium! Outfits, including hats! Denim that smells like hamster! Who doesn’t want that? See you in the foreground, connoisseurs of the best of life… ”

Pre-orders for Motorheart are now live through The Darkness website. A number of packages are available, including exclusive marbled orange vinyl, signed press tests, cassettes, deluxe CD with bonus tracks, and more. Fans who order the album by Thursday, June 10 will have access to pre-sale tickets for the UK tour. Regular passes will be available through Ticketmaster and here.
