Thinking back to the last decade of dance music, much of it turns out to be blurry. From the advent of trap on the EDM scene to the rise of future bass, producers like Flume, Oliver Heldens, Martin Garrix and many more, a lot has happened. But looking back ten years ago today, something really magical happened… Skrillex posted his remix of Benny Benassi’s “Cinema” to YouTube for the first time.
The track was technically released earlier in the year (either January, February, March, or even April according to various sources), but one thing’s for sure, Skrillex uploaded the track to their YouTube channel at June 9, 2011.
Since then, the track has become a true classic in the EDM world, achieving double platinum status and even winning a GRAMMY for Best Remixed, Non-Classical Recording in 2012. It was overall the moment. more hyped and he never, ever failed to completely and utterly wipe out a crowd.
Of course, lately the likes and productions of Skrillex have shifted to a softer, more pop realm. But for fans of his old sound, all the downloads are still there, ready to be enjoyed anytime.
Listen to it again below and don’t forget to ddddd-drop the bass.
