Broken Social Scene’s Kevin Drew announces album, shares new song: listen

Kevin Drew of Broken Social Scene has announced his new instrumental album Influences with a new song called “The Slinfold Loop”. Released as KDAP (Kevin Drew a Picture), Influences will be released on July 16 via Arts and Crafts. Check out “The Slinfold Loop” below.

In a statement, Drew said the following about “The Slinfold Loop”:

We live in a self-selling society. This created an underground battle to be constantly in search of a “real identity”. We wanted to create a video presentation that fosters exploration rather than research and puts the mystical slideshow of endless opinion at the forefront of this battle. We used images available on the World Wide Web from other artists and put together a mix of images to tell a love story about keeping moving forward amidst endless information about how one is meant to live. .

Drew wrote Influences on walks in the woods near the English village of Slinfold and along the canals of the London Borough of Islington, using the Endlesss smartphone app. Influences was formed from 45 sketches he brought home to Toronto.
