WandaVision Season 2 is not happening, Elizabeth Olsen confirms it was a limited series

Those who still have hope WandaVision season 2 may have to put that to bed. Elizabeth Olsen, who ran the Marvel Cinematic Universe show as Wanda Maximoff, aka the Scarlet Witch, alongside Paul Bettany’s Vision, said the show was a limited series. There are no plans for a second season and, if any such plans did occur, she would be shocked.

Elizabeth olsen recently appeared in an episode of the Actors on Actors web series. She and The Flight Attendant star Kaley Cuoco discussed each other’s shows. They both had great affection for each other’s work. As such, Cuoco asked if she thought they were going to do WandaVision season 2. Olsen responded emphatically with a confident “no”. She then elaborated a bit by saying, “This is definitely a limited series”,

“I mean, I say that. I don’t know. I mean, with Marvel, you can never say no. People die … I don’t know. I’d be shocked.”

Indeed, Marvel Studios has become something of a “never say never” place. Apparently, nothing is ever excluded, as long as it makes sense within the limits of the universe. But Marvel Studios director Kevin Feige and WandaVision director Matt Shakman also indicated that there are no plans in place for a second season. So, unless something dramatic changes behind the scenes, it seems highly unlikely that the series will return. But that doesn’t mean we’re not going to see more of Elizabeth Olsen’s Wanda. Not by far.

Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness, the long-awaited sequel to Doctor Strange in 2016, recently completed filming under the direction of Sam Raimi. Aside from Benedict Cumberbatch’s return as Wizard Supreme, Elizabeth Olsen’s Wanda Maximoff is set to play a major role in the film. What happens with her character beyond the confines of the MCU sequel remains to be seen, but WandaVision has made her a bigger player than ever in this universe. She’s apparently not going anywhere. Paul Bettany, however, may be a different story as the actor recently confirmed that he currently does not have a contract with Marvel. Although he’s very open to coming back as Vision down the line if the opportunity arises.

The reason a second season seems possible is that WandaVision has turned out to be a huge success. The show enjoys a 91% approval rating on Rotten Tomatoes, and while Disney + didn’t reveal specific streaming numbers, the show dominated the online conversation during its airing. But Marvel has a busy schedule, especially when it comes to future MCU shows on Disney +. Loki debuts this week, with Hawkeye already in the box. Ms. Marvel, Moon Knight, and She-Hulk are also filming. Additionally, Secret Invasion, Ironheart, and Armor Wars are in various stages of development. Without forgetting the animation What if …? Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness is slated to hit theaters on March 15, 2022. This news is reaching us via Variety.
