Vin Diesel and Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson have had a well-documented and famous feud with each other over the past two years. According to Diesel, this is due in large part to his own approach to working with Johnson.

Speaking in a new interview with Men’s Health, Diesel noted that much of the animosity between the two stems from what he calls “hard love” in trying to get Johnson’s best performance ever. working on the Fast Furious series.
“He was a difficult character to play, the character of Hobbs,” Diesel said. “My approach back then was a lot of hard love to help get this performance where it needed to be. Diesel went on to say that while it wasn’t always fun, he was very happy with Johnson’s performance and that she stayed true to the character.
“Hobbs hits you like a ton of bricks. It’s something I’m proud of, this aesthetic. It took a lot of work. We had to make it happen and sometimes at that point I could give a lot of hard love. Not feliniesque, but I would do whatever I need to do to get performance in whatever I produce.
