Jared Padalecki “Gutted” from Discovering Supernatural Prequel via Twitter

The surprise announcement of a Supernatural prequel series starring Jensen Ackles took the internet by storm on Thursday. But it looks like actor Jared Padalecki, who played Sam Winchester on the show, discovered it on Twitter, just like us, and is “gutted” for not knowing about it first.

The new series called The Winchesters, focuses on Sam and Dean’s parents’ early years, with Ackles starring and producing with his wife and fellow Supernatural star Danneel Ackles. When the news broke it soon became apparent that even though the series would be narrated by Ackles’ Dean Winchester, there would be no implication for Jared padalecki when he responded to Ackles’ original tweet by sharing the news of the Supernatural saga sequel. “Dude,” he wrote. “Happy for you. I wish I had heard about it other than on Twitter. Glad to watch, but disappointed Sam Winchester had no involvement.”

Guy. Happy for you.
I would have liked to hear about it other than on Twitter.
Glad to watch, but disappointed Sam Winchester had no involvement. https://t.co/bAcEvFKM7p

While some initially thought the actor was just joking, he followed up with another tweet to confirm his previous statement. He replied, “No. It’s not. This is the first time I’ve heard of it. I’m sorry” when asked if his comment was a bad joke. Another fan said they thought he could joke, pointing out that Deadline noted “If the Winchesters go ahead, The CW will have the two Supernatural stars back in the fold; Padalecki is the star / producer. Walker’s executive, which is heading into a second season. ” However, it was quickly pointed out that the statement suggested that the two actors would be working on CW shows again, but not necessarily the same.

No.
It’s not.
This is the first time I’ve heard of it.
I’m empty. https://t.co/1i8eC8YAdV

Another user again claimed the reaction was just a joke, citing an excerpt from a convention panel in March when the couple appeared to be discussing the series. However, it seems that even though there was an idea for the program to be made, nothing was confirmed at the time and seems to have since been given the green light without Padalecki being informed or involved in its development. If anything, the clip only proves that he believed at the time, if a Supernatural spin-off happened, that he would have some sort of involvement. Apparently being left out of the photo the way he did seems like a bad way to end his supernatural journey.

it’s a joke you all… if you watch from the 24th to the 26th minute of their convention panel in march they are both talking about it https://t.co/lksgN96Anv

The series description reads: “” Before Sam and Dean, there was John and Mary. Told from the perspective of narrator Dean Winchester (Jensen Ackles), The Winchesters is the epic, never-before-seen love story of how John met Mary and how they put it all on the line not just to save their own. love, but the whole world. “

In a statement, Ackles said, “After Supernatural wrapped up its 15th season, we knew it wasn’t over. Because, as we say on the show,” nothing really ends, just is- not? I knew the first story we wanted to tell was the story of John and Mary Winchester, or rather the story of the supernatural origin. I always felt that my character, Dean, wanted to know more about his parents’ relationship and how it came about. So I like the idea of him taking us on this journey. “

The series, if it works, could be Supernatural’s first successful spin-off, after Supernatural: Bloodlines and Wayward Sisters, among others, failed to make it happen, but that wouldn’t be much consolation for Padalecki in what appears to be. almost be a betrayal. by his former colleague … or is it really just a joke?

Looks like this show would benefit from an angel character in a time-traveling trench coat. I’m just saying … https://t.co/gb8oxBQZiM
