Avatar: Frontiers of Pandora video game trailer revealed at E3

A brand new Avatar the video game is on its way. As revealed during Ubisoft’s E3 presentation, Avatar: Frontiers of Pandora is set to arrive next year, bringing James Cameron’s sci-fi franchise to next-gen consoles and PCs. A trailer has been revealed, previewing what to expect for players when the game is over. The timing is pretty handy as Cameron’s long-awaited sequel to his 2009 sci-fi epic is set to finally hit theaters next December as well.

Avatar: Frontiers of Pandora is best described as a first-person action-adventure video game. It was developed by Massive Entertainment in collaboration with Lightstorm Entertainment and Disney. It was built using the latest version of the Snowdrop engine and was developed exclusively for the new generation of consoles, including the PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X, as well as the PC. The studio claims that the game “brings the alluring world of Pandora with all its beauty and danger to life in an immersive and open-world experience.” Ubisoft also revealed a login line for the game, which reads as follows.

“In this new independent story, play as a Na’vi and embark on a journey across the Western Frontier, a never-before-seen part of Pandora. Explore a living and responsive world inhabited by unique creatures and new characters, and push to support the formidable forces of the RDA which threaten it. ”

The trailer doesn’t delve too deeply into the story at hand. Rather, it’s a collection of photos showing how the developers brought the world of Pandora to life. It feels like a faithful recreation of the world James Cameron presented to us in Avatar in 2009. It also feels like a huge upgrade from Avatar: The Game, which released at the same time as the movie when it was originally released. in theaters. We see lots of creatures, lots of lush plants, Na’vi in their natural surroundings, and explosive action. Everything is, in a nutshell, epic.

It’s currently unclear if this will tie into Avatar 2 directly or if it will tell an entirely new story. What this signals are Disney’s plans to make it a full-fledged franchise. Disney ended up controlling the property after its merger with Fox in 2019. And they have every reason to believe that this is a solid plan. Avatar recently reclaimed the throne as the highest grossing film in box office history, surpassing $ 2.8 billion worldwide thanks to a recent re-release in China. With not one, but four sequels on James Cameron’s path, now seems like the right time for a modern video game to capitalize on more.

Avatar 2 finally finished filming last September and is currently scheduled for release on December 16, 2022. Avatar 3 is slated to follow on December 20, 2024, with Avatar 4 slated to hit theaters on December 18, 2026. Finally, Avatar 5 will arrive on December 22, 2028 Avatar: Frontiers of Pandora is coming to PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X, Xbox Series S, PC, Amazon Luna, and Google Stadia in 2022 from Ubisoft. Make sure to experience the new trailer for yourself.
