Plans for the Platinum Jubilee were released earlier this week. The celebration will begin on June 2, 2022 with the Trooping the Color. The Queen, 95, and members of the royal family will watch the parade from a balcony at Buckingham Palace.
Events will continue with a thanksgiving service on June 3 at St. Paul’s Cathedral. The monarch and his loved ones will then attend a horse race at the Epsom Downs Derby on June 4 and attend a concert with “some of the world’s biggest entertainment stars” later today. The Jubilee will end on June 5 with a lunch and a contest.
prince charles, Duchess Camille, Prince william and Duchess Kate attend the festivities every year, although the Jubilee has been canceled in 2020 and 2021 due to the coronavirus pandemic.
Harry and Meghan most recently appeared at the event in June 2019. The couple announced plans to step back in January 2020, and Buckingham Palace confirmed in February 2021 that they would not be returning as members of the royal family. “While we are all saddened by their decision, the Duke and Duchess remain highly valued members of the family,” the Queen said in a statement at the time.
The Duke of Sussex was reunited with his grandmother in the UK in April during Prince Philip’s funeral. The couple have reportedly spoken privately on at least two occasions during their visit.
An insider told Us exclusively in March that Elizabeth “always had a soft spot for Harry and took care of him.” Although she tried to ‘understand and see things from Harry’s point of view’ after he and Meghan made shocking allegations about the Royal Family in their revealing CBS interview, she found the claims difficult “to digest”.
However, the duo had nothing but kind words to say about the Queen during the shoot. “I have spoken to my grandmother more in the past year than I have in many years,” Harry noted. “We made a few Zoom calls with Archie. … My grandmother and I have a very good relationship and understanding. And I have deep respect for her. He’s my colonel-in-chief, isn’t he? It always will be.
Meghan, who was unable to travel to the UK for Philip’s funeral due to her pregnancy, said her mother-in-law “has always been wonderful to me”.
