The Sandman on Netflix: when will it air and who’s in the cast?

The Sandman is the latest Netflix drama to take the world by storm.

The streaming service has announced a star cast for the expected comic book adaptation.

What is the Sandman talking about?

The Sandman is an American comic book series created by Neil Gaiman.

The Sandman tells the story of Morpheus, an incredibly old being who is also the living personification of dreams.

He lives in a realm called The Dreaming, where he takes care of the dreams of beings across the universe. His work brings him to earth, where he spends time helping dreams come true, sometimes good and bad, and sometimes arousing awakening terrors.

Wonder Woman screenwriter Allan Heinberg will be the showrunner while Neil will act as producer.

Who is the cast of The Sandman?

Actor Tom Sturridge was chosen as the main protagonist Morpheus, aka the Dream King.

Viewers will know Tom from his roles in Being Julia and The Hand That Rocked The Boat.

Game of Thrones actress Gwendoline Christie will play Lucifer, who rules hell and causes trouble for Morpheus.

American actress Kirby Howell-Baptiste has been chosen to play Death, the wisest and most “kind” sister of Morpheus.

Fans may know her from the American TV drama Why Women Kill.

Doctor Who actress Jenna Coleman will play legendary demonic sleuth Johanna Constantine. The role was previously played by Keanu Reaves in the Hollywood film adaptation.

However, they are not the only stars to feature.

Other well-known faces in the cast include Game of Thrones actor Charles Dance and Harry Potter actor David Thewlis.

Additionally, Stephen Fry will play a character named Gilbert.

When was The Sandman released?

Filming began late last year and is not yet complete.

As a result, there is currently no word on when the series will air.

However, it should be around the end of 2021 or the beginning of 2022.
