Rainbow star Freddy Marks has passed away at the age of 71, just three months after his last television appearance.
Freddy joined the cast of the children’s TV show in 1979, forming the much-loved trio Rod, Jane and Freddy, who sang on the show.
Freddy stayed until the show ended in 1990 – and also appeared on the spinoff show The Rod, Jane and Freddy Show.
He then married Jane.
His death was announced last night (May 27) but he actually died in a care home a week before, this has now been revealed.

What did Rainbow’s Freddy die of?
His wife Jane Tucker told the Daily Mail that Freddy was diagnosed with prostate cancer in January and has a few months to live.
He was admitted to the Princess Alice Hospice in Esher, Surrey, four days before his death.
Jane said: “My last words to him were“ I love you. ”But Freddy didn’t answer, he just had a sweet smile on his face like he always does.
“It was incredibly beautiful. I am totally devastated by her loss and it will take me and many others in the country a long time to get over this, ”she added.
Jane paid tribute to the hospice staff, calling out the “angels”.
She also said she was with Freddy at the hospice for “every minute” of her last four days.
Jane said, “I was with him for every minute of those four days. Her passing was a very peaceful and beautiful moment.
