Love Island: Laura Whitmore did a “fantastic job” under “difficult” circumstances

Love Island presenter Laura Whitmore has been praised for doing an “incredible job” under “difficult” circumstances after taking over from Caroline Flack.

Caroline quit the show in 2019, and ITV asked his girlfriend Laura to step in and fill her shoes.

Now former Islander Wes Nelson has expressed his support for the host of the dating show.

Wes, who starred in the show’s 2018 series, said Laura was Caroline’s perfect replacement.

“It [Laura] had big shoes to fill. It was a tough situation when she arrived, but she’s been absolutely amazing for the show, ”he told the Mirror.

“She’s done so well and kept it exciting and positive for the amazing show it is. She did a fantastic job.

He then confessed that he was delighted that the new 2021 series is finally starting.

It was a tough situation when she arrived, but she was absolutely amazing for the show.

“I’ll keep up to date. I’m excited because we’ve missed two seasons now, ”he said.

ITV was forced to report Love Island last summer – and the winter one that would have aired earlier this year – following the COVID-19 pandemic.

Why did Caroline Flack leave Love Island?

Former Love Island host Caroline tragically committed suicide on February 15, 2020, in her London home.

Her death came just months after her arrest and assault charge following an alleged brawl at her home with boyfriend Lewis Burton.

She was due to be tried on March 4, 2020, after pleading not guilty to the charges.

The day before her death, Caroline was reportedly informed that the Crown Prosecution Service (CPS) was continuing the trial, which Lewis did not support.

Following Caroline’s death, her management team accused the CPS of a “show trial”.

Caroline resigned her duties at Love Island shortly before her death.

What did Laura Whitmore say about the Love Island cover?

At the time, Laura Whitmore revealed that Caroline was supporting her in her recovery.

“Caroline is a brilliant host and also a friend,” she said in a statement.

“We’ve talked a lot in the last few days since she stepped down. She was very nice to me and pushed me hard for this role.

“I’ve watched her host every show and know I’ve got big boots to fill. I’ll try to do it justice.
