Kate Garraway admitted things could have been “different” for her husband Derek Draper if Boris Johnson’s government had acted differently.
The Good Morning Britain host appeared on the show today, chatting with co-stars Ben Shephard and Susanna Reid.
And, after Dominic Cummings’ explosive claims yesterday, Kate was on the show to give her opinion.

What did Kate Garraway say about her husband Derek?
Kate appeared visibly moved while chatting with Ben and Susanna.
And, as she questioned the government’s handling of the pandemic, she also reflected on how things could have been “different” for her beloved Derek.
“I spend a lot of time thinking about how things could have been different, in so many ways.

“Both in the management of this by the government, the scientific advice and the advice of the doctors specifically to Derek.
It was definitely confusing, wasn’t it? I think hindsight is a wonderful thing, but that doesn’t mean we shouldn’t tackle what went wrong.

Kate added: “Obviously there were things that could have helped.
“Just as there were doctors who said we could have given this medicine at this point, we now know that it would certainly have helped, but at the time we were concerned that it would have killed him.”

Kate Garraway says government should have acted differently
Speaking about the government’s handling of the pandemic, Kate then said things should have been done differently.
She said, “I’m generous enough to the government in general that they look at a situation and ask themselves what is going to be the most harmful?

“If, as Cummings said, Boris Johnson was more obsessed with the economy, maybe he really believed that was the biggest risk.”
However, she added: “That doesn’t mean things like planning for a pandemic and planning for a lockdown… it should have been something that was in place.”

How’s Derek Draper?
Derek has returned from the hospital but still has a long way to go, Kate said.
Last week, she revealed he had been “devastated” by COVID.
She also revealed that her husband – with whom she shares children Darcey and Billy – can’t really move.
